Notice the “holes” in the pennant race schedule from yesterday.  This is because the wild card league is already deep into their wild card games; an inferior product to solid pennant race scheduling.  Do the “holes” annoy you, because I know they annoy me.  Good!! It’s like waiting for them to get back to the good stuff; the real deal.  I get the sense that this is the way many baseball fans experience the season as it is currently constituted.

By the time the regular season ends too many are saying “Who cares!!”.  This would account for the declining interest in baseball’s three tiered play-off structure.  Look at how the wild card went from being essential for a contract with FOX,  to now it has been pawned-off to TBS on cable.  This has shown me that the wild card has detracted from baseball’s  regular and post seasons set-ups.
