Yesterday’s Philadelphia vs. Florida game was indeed a battle of team aces; but no pitcher was going to ever do good enough to win against Roy Halliday’s perfect game.  Josh Johnson and Florida went down to defeat, 1-0.  On the other hand, Minnesota vs. Texas was not a pitchers duel.  Orlando Hudson was the hitting star with 3 RBIs; and Minnesota defeated Texas, 8-3.

Two exciting pennant race games in Florida and Minnesota last night.  Philadelphia  won 3-2, to remain tied with Cincinnati, as a Chase Utley ground out scored the winning run.  Minnesota beat Texas 2-1 to take a .5 game lead.  Similar to how Philadelphia won,  Minnesota’s Joe Mauer won the game as his DP scored the winning run. It will be interesting to see if Florida can make up ground today as both teams pitch their aces.

pennantracebaseball has recently joined Baseball Bloggers Alliance.  We want to thank them for the assistance they have already given.

Today we will begin to take a closer look at the series that have the greatest impact on the daily pennant races.  The first ones will be TEX @ MIN and PHI @ FLA.  www.overthebaggy.com recently analyzed the season Minnesota’s pitcher, Kevin Slowey is having.  We’ll see how he does tonight against Texas.  www.crashburnalley.com  reported that Philadelphia has had offensive draughts similar ro the one they are experiencing now during past seasons. Here’s hoping they break out of it today, so they can make their series with Florida interesting.
